Mainstream developers (coming from the MS Windows world) often find Linux and KDE to be somewhat confusing. Figuring out how to grab source code from CVS repositories, getting the necessary tools installed to build a kde package, understanding how the tools work, understanding the different packaging systems for Linux, writing helpful documentation for kde apps are all somewhat confusing topics for people to learn. Come learn what we can do to enable more developers to develop with KDE / Linux. In this session you will learn:

  • Areas that KDE needs to improve in order to attract larger number of developers.
  • Tools and utilities that either need improving or need to be developed to make the migration from Windows to KDE/Linux easier.
  • Documentation that is needed to reach the Visual Basic type of programmer.

As a proud supporter of KDE and Desktop Linux, Linspire is committed to building a large base of Linux KDE developers and to promoting open source projects.
